A Karachi-based family on six had their beliefs upturned when they were refused shelter by small hotels, and lodges in Mumbai, despite having visas to visit India.
The family was in city to worship at the Haji Ali Dargah, for their 12-year-old mentally challenged son.
The visitors including three women and a child were traveling from Jodhpur, where they stayed with their family friends for some time, before heading off to Mumbai.
Unaware of the ordeal that awaited them, the family first visited Haji Ali dargah, and after a tiring day decided to pull in at a lodge/hotel, but to their surprise, they were refused rooms to stay at every hotel they approached for booking.
With no other option in hand, the family decided to spend the night at a pavement across Mumbai railway station.
Seeing the family in this condition, a local Sub-Inspector took pity on them and moved the family to a nearby railway cabin (after verifying their documents), where the family was treated to tea and snacks.
